I love this song! I posted the video above of Aretha Franklin speaking with Donnie Simpson. Despite Donnie trying to "sing", it was a cute video. I posted a few of my favorite versions of Curtis Mayfield's "The Makings of You". I personally like the Angie Stone version as the best, but Gladys and L Boogie hook it up as well. It's hard because everyone's voice is different to really compare. However, what I don't fancy Monica's version.

Today, March 11th, 150 restaurants in the Washington metropolitian area will join together to support men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses by contributing a percentage of their sales to Food & Friends

Food & Friends is the only nonprofit organization in the Washington area providing daily, home-delivered, specialized meals, groceries and nutrition counseling to individuals in the community who are facing some of life's most difficult challenges. The funds raised through Dining Out for Life allows Food & Friends to continue to provide these critical services at NO COST to the clients.

Subway Metro Art: U Street-Cardozo

While I was student at Howard University, I lived in the Shaw neighborhood. The nearest metro was the green line and it was the Shaw-Howard University and the U Street-Cardozo metro station.

The neighborhood is home to the famous Ben's Chili Bowl and Duke Ellington. I don't frequent the green line much but on a nice today as such, I will be traveling to the city to enjoy the diversity and culture! The U Street-Cardozo metro station is home to beautiful mosaic art in my opinion! See below!
